Praveen Dhinwa is currently working as Staff Machine Learning Engineer at ShareChat - a Google and Twitter-backed product with 180 million+ monthly active users. Praveen graduated from IIT Kanpur’s CSE Department and is now an experienced ML engineer with varied experience in startups (ShareChat), enterprises (LinkedIn), and consulting (CodeChef, Directi). He has extensive hands-on experience in modeling and developing backend systems for recommender systems.

At ShareChat, he is working to improve the search quality in its flagship apps and has worked on optimizing the feed recommendation for the last three and half years. He is one of Sharechat’s early employees and has played an essential role in the scaling journey of ShareChat ML Systems, beginning from 5 people team to a currently 120+ people team. He has worked on multiple modeling strategies like Collaborative Filtering, Learning to Rank, Two tower models, Wide and Deep models, Embedding based approaches for candidate generation, and other deep learning approaches. He also has extensive experience in building large-scale distributed systems and has a deep knowledge of Backend Systems, Real-time data infrastructure, Big Data Processing Frameworks, Databases, Kubernetes, and Cloud Platforms (Google Cloud Platform and AWS).
